The traditional school system prescribes both the students and the teachers what should be taught and learnt, even though they often have different needs and requirements, interests and competence that would lead towards meaningful achievements. Nevertheless, at university level, we believe that the students should be able to accept the responsibility for their learning. Where are they supposed to learn that? My presentation will introduce several techniques that can be used to personalize our students' learning and help them find their own way. Self-reflection seems to be the key, which enables us tailoring the seminars and courses to our students' needs, the requirements of the institutions as well as the expectations of the labour market. The autonomy that is fostered in this process might seem to be only a by-product, however fundamental one.
