This paper examines how rapid technological progress and abundant data are reshaping intellectual property (IP) law, particularly in the EU’s Galileo and Copernicus space programs. These satellite systems provide commercially valuable data, enhancing innovation and efficiency in navigation, agriculture, climate monitoring, and urban planning. Digital technologies challenge traditional IP management, requiring updated economic models to reflect asset digitization. The paper highlights the balance between open data access to drive innovation and protecting creators' rights within existing IP frameworks. Galileo and Copernicus technologies offer significant potential for efficiency, sustainability, and resilience across industries. However, adoption faces challenges such as technological complexity, regulatory barriers, and limited market awareness. To address these challenges, the paper suggests improving accessibility, fostering public-private partnerships, and refining regulations. Ultimately, it underscores the strategic significance of EU space technologies, offering insights to navigate IP complexities, enhance innovation, and maximize societal benefits.
