Periferie se ocitají na okraji zájmu se všemi negativními důsledky narušujícími územní propojenost Česka na straně jedné, regionální dimenzi evropské integrace na straně druhé. Periferie, determinované okrajovou polohou oproti jádrům osídlení, se vyznačují zpravidla úbytkem obyvatelstva, nedostatečnou infrastrukturou a nízkou ekonomickou výkonností. Území přiléhající k hranici krajské (vnitřní) či státní (vnější dimenze) Česka tak vyžadují zvláštní pozornost územní samosprávy (krajů) i státní správy. Tato problematika je akcentována prostřednictvím programů přeshraniční spolupráce EU. Projekt řeší vymezení obou typů periferie, analýzu socioekonomické situace vč. přístupu jednotlivých krajů k uzavřenosti regionálního rozvoje. Vyústění výzkumu bude spočívat ve formulaci opatření a doporučení ve smyslu posílení územní koheze Česka. Projekt sleduje nutnost koordinace socioekonomických aktivit přes hranice krajů, neboť většina regionálních procesů je právě v rámci krajů víceméně uzavřena. Okrajová území krajů tedy jsou hendikepována, neboť sem často rozvojové impulzy nedocházejí či jen slabě (později). Proto je nezbytné, aby zdejší aktéři (kraje, obce) věnovali pozornost negativním aspektům podmíněným geografickou polohou při krajské hranici s cílem posílení teritoriální soudržnosti. Při řešení projektu dojde k propojení metodologických postupů několika vědních disciplín, a to regionalistiky, regionálního rozvoje, ekonomické a sociální geografie, životního prostředí, sociologie, práva a politologie. Přínosem bude komplexní a multidisciplinární přístup při socioekonomické analýze vnitřních a vnějších periferií, jejich hranic, analýze rozvojových dokumentů a doporučeních pro řešení rozvojových problémů vnitřních a vnějších periferií. V zásadě jde o využití potenciálu základního výzkumu, již dříve uvedených vědních disciplín k aplikacím pro formulování souboru návrhů, opatření a doporučení, která by stimulovala mezikrajskou spolupráci a posilovala územní kohezi vnitřních i vnějších periferií. Peripheries find themselves on the fringes of interest with all the negative consequences of disrupting territoriality the interconnectedness of the Czech Republic on the one hand, the regional dimension of European integration on the other. The peripheries, determined by their marginal position compared to the settlement cores, are usually distinguished population decline, insufficient infrastructure and low economic performance. Territories adjacent to the regional (internal) or state (external dimensions) border of the Czech Republic therefore require special the attention of territorial self-government (regions) and state administration. This issue is accentuated through EU cross-border cooperation programmes. The project solves the definition of both types periphery, analysis of the socio-economic situation incl. approach of individual regions to closure regional development. The outcome of the research will consist in the formulation of measures and recommendations in sense of strengthening the territorial cohesion of the Czech Republic. The project monitors the necessity of coordinating socio-economic activities across regional borders, because most regional processes are more or less closed within the regions. Marginal territories of regions therefore, they are handicapped, because development impulses often do not reach here or only weakly (later). Therefore, it is necessary that local actors (regions, municipalities) pay attention to the negative aspects conditioned by the geographical location at the regional border with the aim of strengthening the territorial cohesion. When solving the project, there will be a connection of several scientific methodological procedures disciplines, namely regional studies, regional development, economic and social geography, life environment, sociology, law and political science. The benefit will be comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach in socio-economic analysis of internal and external peripheries, their borders, analysis development documents and recommendations for solving internal and external development problems peripherals. In principle, it is about using the potential of basic research, the previously mentioned scientific ones disciplines to applications for formulating a set of proposals, measures and recommendations that would stimulated inter-regional cooperation and strengthened the territorial cohesion of the inner and outer peripheries.
