The chapter examines directive impulses in transformative mediation as a specific ethical tension between the principle of non-directiveness and the mediator’s responsibility to respond to power imbalances, intense emotions, and institutional pressures. Drawing on a qualitative reflexive thematic analysis of an expert panel transcript, it identifies seven interrelated themes, including the relationship between directive impulses and party self-determination, the role of mediator bias, the timing and framing of interventions, self-regulation and withdrawal as ethical action, and orientation through the principle of voice and choice. The chapter contributes to mediation ethics by showing non-directiveness not as passivity, but as a dynamic and context-sensitive practice grounded in reflexivity, protection of party agency, and responsible engagement with ethical dilemmas in transformative practice.

Kapitola zkoumá direktivní impulsy v transformativní mediaci jako specifické etické napětí mezi principem nedirektivity a odpovědností mediátora reagovat na mocenské nerovnováhy, intenzivní emoce a institucionální tlaky. Na základě kvalitativní reflexivní tematické analýzy přepisu expertní panelové diskuse identifikuje sedm vzájemně propojených témat, mimo jiné vztah mezi direktivním impulsem a sebeurčením stran, roli mediátorových vlastních biasů, význam načasování a rámování intervencí, seberegulaci a stažení se jako etický krok i orientaci podle principu hlasu a volby (voice and choice). Text přispívá k debatě o etice mediace tím, že ukazuje nedirektivitu nikoli jako pasivitu, ale jako dynamickou, kontextově citlivou praxi založenou na reflexivitě, ochraně agency stran a odpovědné práci s etickými dilematy v transformativní praxi.
