Hlavní pozornost je věnována vztahu francouzského generála (1796–1799), prvního konzula (1799–1804), císaře Francouzů (1804–1814/15) a krále Itálie (1804–1814) Napoleona Bonaparta (1769–1821) k velkovévodovi toskánskému (1791–1801), rakouskému arcivévodovi (1801–1803), kurfiřtu salcburskému (1803–1805), velkovévodovi würzburskému (1806–1814) a později opět velkovévodovi toskánskému (1814–1824) z pohledu Napoleonovy korespondence. Předmětem analýzy jsou dopisy, které Napoleon přímo adresoval Ferdinandovi a které byly zaslány mezi lety 1796 a 1814, tedy od doby prvního italského tažení generála Bonaparta až po Napoleonovu internaci na ostrově Elba. V českém kontextu jsou tyto dopisy poprvé komplexně zpřístupněny a analyzovány s důrazem na jejich kontextualizaci potřebnou pro pochopení historických reálií, na které se vztahují.

The focus is primarily on the relationship of the French General (1796–1799), First Consul (1799–1804), Emperor of the French (1804–1814/15), and King of Italy (1804–1814) Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821) with the Grand Duke of Tuscany (1791–1801), Austrian Archduke (1801–1803), Prince-elector of Salzburg (1803–1805), Grand Duke of Würzburg (1806–1814), and then again Grand Duke of Tuscany (1814–1824), from the perspective of Napoleon's correspondence. The subject of the analysis is the letters directly addressed by Napoleon to Ferdinand, sent between 1796 and 1814, that is, from the time of General Bonaparte's first Italian campaign until Napoleon's internment on the island of Elba. In the Czech context, these letters are being made comprehensively accessible and analyzed for the first time, with attention given to their contextualization necessary for understanding the historical circumstances they refer to.
