The study deals with the early formation of the image of Giacomo Casanova and his 'second life' at the Duchcov (Dux) Chateau before his legacy became part of the presentation strategy of the former Wallenstein residence. It focuses on the initial phase, defined by Casanova's death in 1798 and the publication of the first more extensive study on Casanova's stay in Bohemia by the Duchcov researcher Vítězslav Tichý in 1958. He was one of the first to try to dispel many assumptions and myths about the legendary resident of the town of Duchcov (Dux) that had persisted in historical memory (not only local).
