V roce 2025 uběhlo 240 let od příjezdu světoběžníka Giacoma Casanovy na zámek hraběte Josefa Karla Emanuela z Valdštejna v Duchcově. Přestože od narození Casanovy letos uplynulo 300 let, jeho odkaz zůstává po staletí pevně ukotven v kolektivní paměti a překračuje hranice zemí i kontinentů. Jak se sám zmínil v předmluvě svých „Pamětí“, které sepisoval na duchcovském zámku, „vixi, žil jsem – třebaže žiji ještě“. Přednáška připomněla v rámci popularizace výsledků výzkumu jeho třináctiletý pobyt v Duchcově a „druhý život“ dobrodruha, který se stal strůjcem své vlastní legendy.

In 2025, it marked 240 years since the arrival of the adventurer Giacomo Casanova at the chateau of Count Josef Karl Emanuel of Waldstein in Duchcov (Dux). Although it has been 300 years since Casanova's birth this year, his legacy remains firmly anchored in the collective memory for centuries and transcends the borders of countries and continents. As he himself mentioned in the preface to his "Memoirs," which he wrote at the Duchcov chateau, "vixi, I have lived – even though I still live." The lecture recalled, as part of the promotion of research results, his thirteen-year stay in Duchcov and the "second life" of the adventurer, who became the architect of his own legend.
