„Byl by to krásný muž, pokud by nebyl ošklivý…“ Takto vzpomínal na známého dobrodruha Giacoma Casanovu (1725–1798) jeho přítel Charles Joseph kníže de Ligne. Od příjezdu Casanovy do Duchcova na zámek hraběte Josefa Karla Emanuela z Valdštejna právě uplynulo 240 let. Přednáška připomněla v rámci popularizace výsledků výzkumu Casanovovu cestu životem, pobyt v Čechách a místo v historické paměti u příležitosti 300. výročí jeho narození.

“He would be a handsome man if he weren’t ugly…” This is how his friend Charles Joseph, Prince de Ligne, remembered the famous adventurer Giacomo Casanova (1725–1798). Exactly 240 years have passed since Casanova arrived in Duchcov at the chateau of Count Josef Karl Emanuel of Waldstein. The lecture highlighted, as part of the promotion of research results, Casanova’s journey through life, his stay in Bohemia, and his place in historical memory on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birth.
