In this era of rapidly expanding space exploration, characterized by complex security and cybersecurity challenges, our paper offers a persuasive and professional exploration of the critical interplay between international space law and national space policies. Central to this discourse is the heightened importance of foundational treaties like the Outer Space Treaty (OST), particularly as nations strive to balance technological advancement with legal compliance in areas such as satellite deployment, space situational awareness, and debris management. This paper provides an in-depth comparative analysis of how various countries, from established to emerging space powers, align their space endeavors with international legal standards, highlighting the strategic equilibrium maintained in space missions and satellite deployment. It delves into the intricate relationship between space exploration missions, national prestige, and the accompanying legal challenges, emphasizing the role of international collaborations like the International Space Station (ISS) in both advancing scientific progress and refining legal norms related to space security. Conclusively, the paper underscores the indispensable role of international law in shaping robust national space strategies and advocates for an evolutionary approach to space law to effectively address the burgeoning threats and challenges in the realm of space security and cybersecurity. This work not only contributes significantly to the academic discourse on space law and policy but also offers strategic insights and recommendations for policymakers navigating the increasingly complex and contested domain of outer space.
