V stat’je provoditsja analiz odnogo iz rannich proizvedenij L.N. Andrejeva – rasskaza «Bol’šoj šlem» (1899). Issledovanije pokazyvajet, čto Andrejev uže na rannem ètape svojego tvorčestva izobražajet irracional’nost’ čelovečeskogo bytija i granicu, kotoraja otdeljajet individa ot vsech i vsego. Tematizaciju irracional’nogo, slučajnogo i absurdnogo, tak že kak i otsutstvije žiznennogo «plana» v izobraženii gerojev i ich bytija v mire v rannich rasskazach Andrejeva, možno otnesti k èlementam buduščego èkzistencializma.

The article analyses one of L.N. Andreyev's early works – the story The Grand Slam (1899). Research shows that Andreyev is already at this stage of his work capturing the irrationality of human existence in the outside world, as well as the boundary that separates individuals from everyone and from everything. Making the irrational, the accidental, and the absurd a topic in the depiction of the characters and of their existence in the world, Andreyev is already moving toward elements of future existentialism.
