In recent years, there has been more and more discussion about the lack of effectiveness of regional policy as well as the ever-increasing gaps in development potential between the so-called core regions and other areas, including the so-called peripheral regions. In this sense, it is necessary to pay specific attention to partial economic factors of the development of these areas, such as the labor market, real estate market, financial resources of local administration, investments, supply and demand for services, etc. Identification of economic problems and the potential of municipalities and regions is a prerequisite for a more effective setting regional policy instruments. The aim of the poster is to specify selected economic characteristics of municipalities and cities in the inner and outer peripheries of the Czech Republic. These characteristics are compared with municipalities and cities outside the defined peripheral areas.
