The book is divided into three parts. Part I, entitled The Global Political System, discusses in several chapters the history of the development of the world political system. It then provides background information on the theory and situation of systemic equilibrium. It delineates the former and current actors in world politics, including the role of transnational corporations. Part II, entitled The Political Process, focuses on the foreign policy of states, their decision-making bodies, value systems, state interest, etc. It addresses the issue of violent resolution of contradictions in international relations, as well as non-violent conflict resolution. Part III of The Theoretical School characterizes the development of international relations theory from ancient times to the present. It shows how different schools define contemporary problems of world politics differently. A glossary of basic terms and an index are appended.
