The book Geopolitics of China is organized under seven main headings. The opening section, The Chinese Miracle, characterizes the nature of the reforms there and their results. The Geopolitical Constants and National Peculiarities sections show the geographical, economic, and ethnic distinctions of Chinese civilization and the resulting forms of government. The Diplomacy and War section covers the origins of China's foreign policy, Confucian pacifism, and theories of war. The Century of Humiliation and War and Revolution sections use historical material to show how events in modern history have influenced China's political culture and state idea. The New China describes the development of Beijing's foreign policy after the founding of the PRC, with an emphasis on relations with the USSR/Russia and the United States. The Domestic Crossroads section outlines how some of China's realities are turning into geopolitical issues, in light of discussions of Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
