The article ponders the question whether certain basic values are reflected in the process of naturalisation of foreigners. Although we may think that these values are the ones forming the basis of the standards of our supreme constitutional level, a practical survey carried out shows that there are other, somewhat different decisive criteria. It is also quite interesting to see the conclusion of an analysis of the applicants´ standpoints showing that the gap between their expectations and the reality is much wider.
