Příspěvek se zamýšlí nad otázkou, zda jsou v procesu získávání státního občanství na žádost cizince (naturalizaci) zohledňovány určité základní hodnoty. Ačkoliv by se nabízelo, že těmito hodnotami budou právě ty, na nichž jsou postaveny normy nejvyšší ústavní síly, praktický výzkum ukazuje, že rozhodná jsou často poněkud jiná kritéria. Bez zajímavosti pak není ani analýza postojů samotných žadatelů, z níž vyplývá, že zde jsou nůžky mezi jejich očekáváním a skutečností rozevřeny ještě výrazněji.

The article ponders the question whether certain basic values are reflected in the process of naturalisation of foreigners. Although we may think that these values are the ones forming the basis of the standards of our supreme constitutional level, a practical survey carried out shows that there are other, somewhat different decisive criteria. It is also quite interesting to see the conclusion of an analysis of the applicants´ standpoints showing that the gap between their expectations and the reality is much wider.
