It is a brief overview of the development of theatrical art and theater activities on the territory of the present Czech Republic from the Middle Ages to the present, with special attention devoted especially to the 19th and 20th centuries. It underlines the most insignificant features that theatricality influenced the creation of the Czech modern society Attention is paid to the specific case of Opava.
