The engagement of teaching staff can positively affect the risk of pupils prone to failing school and early school leaving. This contribution aims to discuss the issue of engagement or its absence in pedagogical research. It discusses the typology in the ranks of teachers in the current educational concept and by qualitatively oriented procedures suggests the planned research design of the dissertation project. Engagement is presented as a research construct, as a research problem as well as the property of a particular phenomenon, in relation to those who manage the educational processes in the exercise of their profession. The message represents a presentation of the basic pillars of the whole subject, in which both authors are professionally involved.

Angažovanost pedagogických pracovníků může pozitivně ovlivnit ohrožení žáků vyznačujících se školním neúspěchem a předčasným odchodem ze vzdělávání. Příspěvek ve vztahu k této otázce má za cíl diskutovat o problému angažovanosti, případně její absenci v pedagogickém výzkumu. Řeší typologii v řadách pedagogů v současném pojetí vzdělávání a kvalitativně orientovanými postupy naznačuje plánovaný výzkumný design disertačního projektu autorky. V textu je rámcově prezentována angažovanost jako výzkumný konstrukt, jako výzkumný problém a také jako vlastnost určitého sledovaného jevu, a to ve vztahu k těm, kteří vzdělávací procesy při výkonu své profese řídí. Sdělení představuje prezentaci základních pilířů celého tématu, do kterého se oba autoři profesně hojně angažují, přestože každý z nich z jiné vědeckovýzkumně perspektivy.
