Anotace
The cardiology clinics currently offer the professional opportunities for clinical engineers most often. And the technically most complex cardiology branch is arrhythmology. The clinical engineers serve for electrophysiology diagnostics, catheter ablations and implantable cardiac devices implant procedures and follow-ups. The new competency for cardiology clinical engineers is the pre-implant ECG screening for potential subcutaneous cardioverter-defibrillation patients. As the inter-individual variability of subcutaneous cardiac signal is considerable, the patient screening is necessary for identification of the patients, which have a suitable subcutaneous sensing signal. This article describes the technology of subcutaneous defibrillation, the process for the pre-implant testing and the role of cardiac clinical engineer.

Anotace

The cardiology clinics currently offer the professional opportunities for clinical engineers most often. And the technically most complex cardiology branch is arrhythmology. The clinical engineers serve for electrophysiology diagnostics, catheter ablations and implantable cardiac devices implant procedures and follow-ups. The new competency for cardiology clinical engineers is the pre-implant ECG screening for potential subcutaneous cardioverter-defibrillation patients. As the inter-individual variability of subcutaneous cardiac signal is considerable, the patient screening is necessary for identification of the patients, which have a suitable subcutaneous sensing signal. This article describes the technology of subcutaneous defibrillation, the process for the pre-implant testing and the role of cardiac clinical engineer.
