The book consists of three parts. The first describes the historical development of military testament in Rome. The following section describes the contents and scope of the privileges of the military testament. The third part is devoted to military secondly testament to modern law, but in particular how the ancient methods chosen by the military lawyers testament appear in modern inheritance law as such. Military testament is in fact understood as an exception to all the principles of Roman law of succession. What has been the exception in the ancient world, it is nowadays often the rule.
