Subject and aims of the paper: to show how Suk's orchestral works have been perceived by critics; critical reflections since 1890s till the end of Suk’s life; progression of Suk's orchestral work; the main critical streams and disputes and their causes in Czech music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries; the reception of Suk's works in the context of the progression of European music of the early 20th century; conditions under which Suk's works were presented to the European audience; problems of reception of Suk’s works composed after Dvořák’s death; critical reflections of Suk's orchestral works after his death, particularly the Czech reflections but also issues of the reception of Suk’s works abroad and its contemporary situation.
