The book presents the first czech comprehensive interpretation of history of Village Hejnice, the Marian shrine where the Blessed Mary was worshiped since the Middle Ages. The brief history of this location in the Jizera Mountains in northern Bohemia is presented from 14th to 20th century. Authors focus on the Franciscans, who took care of the pilgrimage after the establishment of the monastery in 1691 until the spring of 1950, when the monastery was destroyed by communist power. Attention is given especially to four generations of the Counts of Gallas. They owned Hejnice within their domains in Frýdlant region from 1634 till 1759. The in was assumed to patronage by counts of Clam-Gallas, who took care of it for next four generations until it´s confiscation in year 1945. Authors describe the fate of the most important members of these aristocratic families and also their residences in Bohemia, in Moravia and in Austria. The monastery the Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary in Hejnice also served as a family tomb, to which an attention is also paid in the next. The book is attached with the list of donors and relatives who were buried in the monastery of Hejnice, their extensive family tree, rich picture collection and Czech texts and captions which were into German language.
