Účinky stěhování národů v kombinaci s vnitřními potížemi římské říše vedly ke kolapsu římského impéria. V přednášce se zvláště poukazuje na význam invaze Hunů do Evropy a jejich říše v evropském prostoru, např. na to, jak tato říše urychlila vznik tzv. barbarských germánských států.
