Abstract

In the original language

In Opava, in today's Czech territory of Silesia that was originally part of the Habsburg monarchy, one of the congresses of the Holy Alliance took place from October 23 to December 24, 1820. Opava (Troppau) found itself in the centre of European events. Although Opava did not provide the European political and diplomatic elites with the same comfort and capacities as Vienna, the city brilliantly fulfilled its role in the spirit of the Austrian capital. The book chapter analyses the role of Opava and everyday life in the city during the Opava Congress of the Holy Alliance.
